Memorial Day is more than a long weekend—it’s a sacred pause. A time to reflect, give thanks, and honor the lives and legacies of those who came before us. Whether you’re remembering loved ones, ancestors, or those who gave their lives in service, this ritual invites you to slow down, reconnect, and create space for healing through intentional remembrance.

At Luna & Co., we believe that self-care is sacred—and remembrance is a form of magick. This gentle ritual helps you honor the past, embrace the present, and nurture your soul with gratitude.

🌿 What You’ll Need:

  • A white candle (symbol of remembrance and peace)

  • A bowl of water (for clarity, calm, and emotional release)

  • Fresh herbs or flowers (like rosemary for memory or lavender for peace)

  • A photo, keepsake, or name of someone you wish to honor (optional)

  • A quiet space and a few undisturbed moments

Optional: Enhance the ritual with our Hekate Oil, Altar'd Space Spray, or your favorite Luna & Co. item.

🕯️ The Ritual

1. Prepare Your Space

Create a calm, sacred atmosphere. Light your candle and take a few deep breaths. Let your body soften. Let your energy settle.

If you’ve learned the Fourfold Breath from our Creating Sacred Space class, use it now to center yourself:

Inhale, hold, exhale, hold—all for equal counts.

2. Call in the Memory

Hold your chosen photo, keepsake, or slip of paper with their name. Speak aloud:

“Today, I honor and remember…”

Name those you’re remembering. Speak slowly, gently. Let the energy of your words move through you. Allow memories, emotions, or even silence to come.

3. Make an Offering

One by one, place the herbs or flowers into the bowl of water. With each offering, say:

“Thank you for your life.
Thank you for your love.
Thank you for your legacy.
You are remembered.”

This simple gesture is a symbol of your gratitude and connection.

4. Sit in Reflection

Spend a few moments in quiet contemplation. Notice any sensations, emotions, or thoughts that arise. If you feel called, journal your reflections. Let this space be soft, sacred, and open.

5. Close with Peace

When you feel ready, extinguish your candle with intention. Say:

“May you rest in peace.
May your memory be a blessing.
And may I live in a way that honors your light.”

Pour the bowl of water and herbs into the earth, a garden, or natural place if possible—returning the offering to nature.
